Custom Powder Coating Solutions for Every Product

custom powder coating solutions for water bottles and tumblers

First, alkaline cleaning and phosphating are performed to remove oil stains and impurities from the blank surface. Once the stainless steel cup shell is grounded, electrostatically charged powder particles are sprayed onto it. The powder-coated cup is transferred to a curing oven maintained at 180–200°C. We offer a range of surface finishes: high-gloss, matte, metallic, and gradient, plus special textures like crackle and snowflake.

custom powder coating solutions for wholesale shaker bottles

We use a polyester or epoxy-polyester hybrid resin system to make textured powder coating. It creates a controllable rough surface for better grip and anti-slip performance. The cured coating forms a strong protective film, which is impact-resistant and abrasion-resistant. Compared with much thinner liquid paint, powder coating can form a thicker and more resilient protective layer, which plays a buffering role when the cup falls.

custom powder coating solutions for dog bowls

The coating of pet food bowls must meet the safety standards for direct contact with food and drinking water. The powder coating adopts a food-grade formula and does not contain BPA, phthalate esters, and other harmful substances. After the high-temperature curing process, the coating is fully crosslinked, and residual monomers and volatile substances are completely eliminated. The formed surface is compact, non-porous, and easy to clean.

customized powder coating solutions for hip flasks

Compared with spray painting, powder coating offers better resistance to spirits such as gin and whisky, and inferior coatings are easily damaged by these beverages. The cured powder coating film features chemically inert properties and will not react with botanical oils in spirits. Hip flasks with conventional coatings are prone to flavor transfer, while the powder coating process prevents changes to the liquor’s taste.

multiple powder coating custom options for stainless steel beer growlers.

The powder coating layer, paired with the vacuum insulation structure, can avoid water droplet condensation on the exterior of the growler and prevent hands from getting wet when holding it. The textured coating delivers reliable grip, and the growler filled with liquor is more stable to lift and not easy to slip. Our powder coating finish is durable and can withstand daily repeated use. Even if it is frequently carried back and forth to breweries and party occasions, the growler’s appearance can still be kept intact.

metal cooler powder coating surface treatment

The coating used on metal coolers and large-capacity jugs must be able to withstand harsh outdoor environments. The powder coating used for these products adopts UV-stable formulations, which do not easily fade or chalk after prolonged sun exposure. The coating can also form a protective barrier to isolate water vapor and oxygen and prevent metal corrosion. For stainless steel vacuum jugs and metal cooler shells used in outdoor scenarios such as camping, the powder-coated surface can be gripped more stably even if gloves are worn.

custom powder coatings for can coolers

Can coolers can also deliver protective effects and functional performance with the help of powder coating. The high-performance powder coating creates a scratch-resistant surface and can also be put into a dishwasher for cleaning. The finish will not get damaged even after repeated cleaning. The coating can also bring a non-slip grip, making the cooler easier to hold even when condensation forms. Powder coating can be combined with laser engraving for slim can coolers suitable for standard 12 oz cans. The engraved brand logo has a crisp outline and is durable.

Precision in Every Particle and Durability in Every Product We Coat

From electrostatic spraying to high-temperature curing, our automated lines deliver flawless, food-safe powder coatings at scale—because your brand deserves nothing less.

Powder Coating Quality Control Process That Guarantees Mass Production

Powder Coating Quality Control Process That Guarantees Mass Production.

We help you avoid the risk of “great samples, bad bulk orders.” Powder coating is not a simple one-step process but a multi-stage process including chemical reaction and high-temperature treatment, and every parameter will affect the final quality. We strictly implement the four-step powder coating quality inspection process, from raw material inspection to final packaging, to ensure your customized project will not go wrong. Each process is closely monitored by our dedicated quality inspection team; each batch of products can be traced back, with the corresponding powder batch number, curing temperature curve, and operator ID available for reference.

Process NameWhat We DoYour Benefit
Color Matching & Powder SamplingWe match your Pantone color using our in-house powder library, apply the coating under the same parameters as mass production, and send physical samples for your approval. We also provide texture samples including matte, glossy, sandy, and hammer tone. Each sample is labeled with its powder lot number and curing profile.Zero Guesswork. You see and feel the exact powder-coated finish before committing to mass production.
Metal Pre-TreatmentChemical cleaning, alkaline degreasing, and phosphating to remove oils, grease, and oxidation from the metal surface. This step creates a conversion coating that dramatically improves powder adhesion.Maximum Adhesion. Proper pre-treatment is the single most important factor in preventing peeling and flaking. It ensures your powder coating survives years of use.
Electrostatic Spraying & High-Temperature CuringElectrostatic spray guns apply positively charged powder particles to the grounded metal substrate. The coated product then enters a curing oven at 180–200°C, where the powder melts, flows, and chemically cross-links into a hard film typically 60–100 microns thick.Consistent Thickness. Every unit receives the same uniform coverage and curing profile, eliminating human error and ensuring batch-to-batch consistency.
Strict Powder Coating QC TestingWe perform cross-hatch adhesion testing (ASTM D3359), salt spray testing (ASTM B117), and dishwasher safety testing on every production batch. Additional tests include impact resistance and color difference measurement (ΔE < 1.5).Peace of Mind. Verified powder coating durability and food safety for your target market, with test reports available upon request.

Customization & OEM Support

Can’t find the ideal color number? Our R&D team can prepare exclusive powder to match the brand’s unique color system.

Our new color development supports small batch trials. Before the official production, you can check the color effect on different light sources and different substrates. We will also keep all the files of color matching formulas in the past, and even if we return the order after several years, the colors can be accurately matched. If your brand has strict visual standards, we can directly color according to Pantone, RAL, or HEX.

Low MOQ for Trial Orders

We support small batch trials for new brands and new product testing. Validate your market before committing to full-scale production.

Various Texture Options

We provide a complete set of powder spraying texture effects: smooth gloss, matte, sandy texture, hammer tone, and metallic finishes. By adjusting the powder particle size, spraying parameters, and curing process, each texture can be further fine-tuned. Not sure which texture is suitable for your product? We can send a sample card set of textures so that you can compare the decorative effect in kind.

We can realize a variety of logo processes on the powder spraying surface: screen printing, laser engraving, and water transfer printing. The powder coating we choose has been specially optimized, and the ink adhesion is stronger. Even after repeated cleaning and long-term daily use, the logo is still clear and firm.
When laser engraving, the surface powder can be carved off, exposing the stainless steel substrate underneath, forming a permanent logo with high contrast without fading and peeling.

FAQs About KingStar Powder Coating

We’ve compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions to make it easier for you to find the information you need. Whether you’re looking for details about our powder coating services, you can quickly access helpful answers here.

Powder coating and liquid painting are two completely different processes. When applied to water bottles, the difference between them in durability, safety, and long-term appearance will be directly reflected.

  • Liquid painting relies on solvents to carry pigment, and the solvents will volatilize during drying. The final paint film is very thin, generally only 15-25 microns; it is formed by solvent volatilization, not by chemical crosslinking.
  • Powder spraying is different: electrostatic powder particles are sprayed on the surface of a grounded metal substrate and then baked at 180-200℃. The powder is heated, melted, and leveled, and a chemical crosslinking reaction occurs, and finally a hard paint film is formed, usually with a thickness of 60-100 microns. It is this thicker, cross-linked, and cured film that gives powder spraying a stronger advantage.

For drinkware specifically, the practical differences are:

FactorLiquid PaintingPowder Coating
Film thickness15–25 microns60–100 microns
VOC emissionHighZero
Scratch resistanceModerateHigh
Salt spray resistanceLimitedExcellent
Dishwasher safeOften degradesPasses repeated cycles
Color consistencyHarder to controlΔE < 1.5 achievable

This thicker, chemically crosslinked paint film can also play a buffering role when the cup falls. Compared with the thin solvent-based paint layer, it has much stronger anti-chipping and anti-peeling ability.

Powder spraying is a more reliable surface treatment scheme if the product needs to be taken repeatedly, cleaned many times, or taken outdoors. You can learn more about the complete process comparison between powder coating and liquid spraying and how this process is applied to injection molded drinkware surface finishing when a product contains both metal and plastic parts.

Sure. Our powder coating can be in direct contact with food and drinks, and each production batch will be tested according to relevant standards.

The safety of powder coating depends on three elements: raw material formula, curing process, and surface state of finished products. Our coating has FDA and LFGB certification and does not contain BPA, phthalates, and other harmful substances. After high temperature curing, the coating is fully crosslinked, and residual monomers and volatile substances are completely removed. The surface of the finished product is compact and non-porous, which is not only convenient for cleaning but also can reduce bacteria buildup.

What this means in practice:

  • Food-grade formula: free of BPA, phthalates, and harmful additives
  • FDA/LFGB standards: meet the requirements of food contact in the US and EU
  • Fully cured surface: After curing at 180-200℃, there are no residual monomers and volatiles.
  • Non-porous finish: easy to clean, not easy to absorb odor and stains.
  • Batch-level testing: Each batch of large goods will be verified, not just sample inspection.

Safety depends not only on the coating itself but also on the inner structure of the cup. The design of the food-safe vacuum insulated drinkware can ensure that the drink only touches the food-grade stainless steel material, and powder coating is only used to protect the outer surface of the cup.

Sure. We can match colors according to Pantone color card (PMS), RAL color card, or HEX color value. From sample confirmation to mass production, we can control the color difference within ΔE < 1.5.

The color matching of powder coating is more difficult than expected. The final color of the finished product will be influenced by powder formula, film thickness, curing temperature, and substrate. We complete color matching in three stages:

Stage 1 — In-house powder library.
We give priority to matching your Pan Tong color number in our own powder library. Many brand-specific colors do not need to develop new powder separately, which can shorten the delivery time and reduce the cost.

Stage 2 — Physical sampling.
If it is necessary to customize the exclusive powder, the R&D team will develop the corresponding formula and spray it according to the same parameters in mass production. What you get is a physical sample, not a computer rendering. You can check the colors on different light sources and different substrates. Each sample will be marked with powder batch number and curing parameters.

Stage 3 — Formula retention.
We will save all the color matching formula files. Even if you return the order after many years, you can accurately reproduce the same color.

Before the formal mass production, we also support small batch trial production. You can verify the color effect on the real finished product and then decide to place an order in large quantities. If the brand has strict requirements on appearance standards, this is the safest solution. Generally, the color-matching work of brand water cups will be carried out simultaneously with the custom mold development for branded drinkware, and both of them need to be finally confirmed before mass production.

Sure. The powder coating of each batch of our products has passed the scratch adhesion test (ASTM D3359), salt spray test (ASTM B117), and dishwasher safety test. The durability of powder coating depends on two points: perfect substrate pretreatment and a standardized curing process. Pretreatment includes chemical cleaning, alkaline degreasing, and phosphating, which will generate a conversion film and greatly improve the adhesion of the coating. Without this process, even if the quality of powder raw materials is good, the coating will still peel off. When solidified at 180-200℃, the powder will melt, level, and cross-link to form a hard paint film. If the curing process is omitted or shortened, the coating is soft and easy to knock off the paint.

For outdoor products, we will adopt a UV-resistant and stable formula, which is not easy to fade and powders under long-term sun exposure. For vacuum insulation products, the coating and insulation structure will play a synergistic role: the shell is protected, and the vacuum insulation and coating durability together form a complete protection system.

Sure. We support screen printing, laser engraving, and water transfer printing on powder coating surface.

The core difference between these processes lies in the durability of the logo and the way it is combined with the coating:

  • Screen printing: Ink is printed on the cured coating surface. Most suitable for multi-color logoss and fine patterns. We will optimize the surface layer of powder coating and improve the adhesion of ink, and the printed pattern can withstand repeated cleaning.
  • Laser engraving: Laser engraving penetrates the powder coating, exposing the stainless steel substrate below. This logo will last forever, with high contrast and no fading and peeling. It is not the ink attached to the surface, but the logo formed by the material itself.
  • Water transfer printing: Suitable for complex patterns and curved surfaces. This kind of curved surface is difficult to be completely covered by screen printing.

For laser engraving, its visual contrast comes from the color difference between the colored powder and the bare stainless steel underneath. It is very suitable for creating high-end brand texture, especially on products like custom decorated drinkware finishes and laser engraving on powder coated drinkware.

One thing needs to be planned in advance: the position of the logo will be affected by the shape of the product. If the cup body has a radius, texture, or concave area, the mold design directly determines whether the printing/engraving effect of the logo is clean or not. That is why we coordinate mold design for logo placement during the tooling stage, not after production starts.

We support low MOQ trial orders for new brands and new product testing, and scale to full mass production with 500,000 monthly output across 3 automated coating lines.
