Custom Soft-Sided Cooler Bag Sampling & Production Process

Step 1: Sign NDA

NDA is the abbreviation of Non-Disclosure Agreement. Before you disclose any confidential information (such as drawing or design concepts) about your custom cooler bag project, we sign NDA with you.

Step 2: Complete Design Drawing

Base your drawing, our engineering team will release a feasibility report and help revise the drawing. If you only have a design concept without drawings, our R&D team offers design support to complete the drawing.

Step 3: Quotation & Payment

After having all your requirement, we quote for sampling cost, material cost, and bulk pricing. Payment term for sampling is 100% in advance. Payment term for mass production is normally 30% deposit + 70% balance before shipment.

Step 4: Material Confirmation & Sample Approval

Lead time for initial samples is 15-25 days. You will receive a physical prototype made with your chosen materials, sizing, shapes, colors, logos&text, pattern and accessories to confirm the design, dimensions, and printing quality. Revisions can be made based on this sample.

Step 5: Mass Production

After pre-production sample is approved and deposit payment received, we then start mass production. The lead time of mass production is 30-45 days. It’ll be even longer for custom design smart water bottle projects.

Step 6: Final Payment & Shipping

If you haven’t done any project involving importing from China, we can handle the whole logistics ourselves or cooperate with any third party you assign and arrange globally door-to-door shipping.

Unlike hard coolers, dry ice cannot be used inside the soft cooler bags. Extremely low temperatures can damage the fabric and insulation materials, and some cooler bag models do not come with valves, which poses safety risks. We recommend that you use regular ice or ice packs.

Most of the cooler bags are waterproof both inside and outside. Therefore, after use, rinse off the residues with clean water, wipe off the stains gently with a towel and mild detergent, and then dry them. Please avoid using the washing machine or dishwasher to prevent the high temperature or tearing from damaging the bag material.

The soft cooler bag is made by welded waterproof and insulating materials, while the hard cooler is formed by hard plastic. Each has its own focus and it cannot be said that one is absolutely superior to the other. The choice depends on the expected application scenario.

In terms of insulation performance and durability, the cooler box has a higher limit, and the ice preservation time can reach 7-10 days. Some models can pass the bear-proof test – even if dropped from a height several times or attacked by large wild animals, it can ensure no major deformation. However, the cooler bag is slightly inferior in these aspects. The ice preservation duration is usually 24-72 hours(1-3 days), and although it will not be damaged by simply dragging or bumping, it ultimately cannot provide the unparalleled durability like the heavy hard-sided cooler.

Compared to the ice chest, the advantages of the cooler sack lie in cost, portability and storage. The cooler bag is made by welding and sewing flexible materials, while the cooler is produced by blow molding, injection molding or rotational molding + PU foam injection. In terms of production cost and product weight, the soft shell cooler bag is much lower than the cooler box. Compared to the heavy cooler box, the cooer bag usually has two carrying methods: hand-held, shoulder strap or a combination of both, which makes it more portable than the ice box. It provides 24-72 hours of ice preservation time and is therefore more suitable for short-term picnics, camping or close-distance hiking, while the hard cooler is more suitable for long-term, more extreme outdoor survival activities. Most cooler bags are foldable, so they can be placed in narrow corners to save space. However, if the cooler box is to be stored, it needs to be planned in advance for the space. Before purchasing, the size should be measured to prevent running out of storage space.

Yes. We have adopted high-frequency welding (RF Welding)/ultrasonic fusion welding technology instead of traditional sewing to ensure that the bottom and seams are completely seamless. Combined with an airtight and waterproof zipper, even if the bag tips over, the liquid contained inside will not leak.

Although the insulation effect of soft cooler bags usually cannot reach the upper limit of hard coolers (7-10 days), they are lighter in weight and easier to carry, and their application scope far exceeds your imagination:

  • Urban life: Shopping for fresh produce or chilled dairy products at the supermarket, preparing meals for daily consumption (with insulation for heat preservation or cold preservation), and storing breast milk.

We mainly use PVC, high-density TPU or 600D/1600D Oxford fabric as the outer shell, and food-grade PEVA or TPU as the lining inside. The middle layer is filled with NBR, EPE or HDPE closed-cell foam. According to laboratory tests, in a room temperature environment, our high-performance cooler bag can keep the ice cubes from melting for 24 to 72 hours. All the materials we use have passed BPA-Free, REACH and RoHS certifications, ensuring safety when in contact with food/beverage and free of any unpleasant smells/odors.

Our production process combines traditional sewing with modern high-frequency welding technology to ensure the durability of each bag:

  • Material selection: According to the design drawings, we use precision CNC machines to cut large pieces of raw materials such as TPU, Oxford fabric, and insulation foam.
  • Material lamination: The outer layer (polyester/nylon/TPU), the middle layer (PE closed-cell foam/foam material), and the inner layer (TPU/PEVA/PVC) are laminated into a single composite fabric using high-frequency radio frequency (RF) welding technology or ultrasonic fusion welding through molecular friction to generate heat.
  • Cutting: Use laser or die-cutting machines to precisely cut the sheet materials according to the design template.
  • Logo printing: According to customer requirements, silk screen printing, heat transfer printing, or embroidery is carried out on the sheet materials.
  • Welding: For TPU/PVC materials, different parts are fused/welded together to form a completely waterproof, needle-free, and tear-resistant bag.
  • Accessory attachment: Sewing or welding zippers (conventional zippers or airtight waterproof zippers), handles, shoulder straps and multi-functional hooks, etc.
  • Pressure test and QC: Test the airtightness, leak-proof performance(especially of the zipper and the bag bottom) and insulation duration of the cooler bag to ensure absolute reliability.

Soft shell cooler bag is a portable soft container with insulation function. Unlike the traditional hard-sieded plastic cooler boxes, it is made of flexible and relatively soft composite materials.

Hard coolers are usually made of three layers of materials – the inner and outer layers are sturdy and waterproof food-grade PP/PE, and the middle insulation layer is usually PU foam. Similar to hard coolers, soft coolers are also usually composed of three layers. The outer layer is a wear-resistant and waterproof fabric, such as Oxford cloth/Nylon coated TPU/PVC; the middle layer is a high-density insulation foam, such as EPE/NBR/HDPE; and the inner layer is a food-grade waterproof lining, such as PEVA or TPU/PVC.

Its working principle is the same as that of a hard cooler. Both effectively prevent heat exchange between the inside and outside through the middle insulation layer (high-density foam). When used in combination with ice packs or ice cubes, it can maintain an internal low temperature for the entire day or even for 2-3 days.
